Be Baptized

Romans 6:4
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism.  And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father,
now we also may live new lives.

So...You want to be baptized?  This is a very important step in your relationship and walk with Jesus.
Jesus said in Mark 16:15,16, "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.
The one who believes and is baptized will be saved."

Definition of Baptism

Baptism means I'm following Jesus and want to show the world.  It's a picture of what Jesus has done and is doing on the inside of me.
Being immersed under the water is a picture of my heart before Jesus and when I come out of the water it is a picture of my new life in Him.

Water baptism is important because of what it symbolizes and declares.  It symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and our identification with Him in death, burial, and resurrection.  It declares the outward reality of an inward change - a transformed heart and life.

Conditions of Baptism

Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior (Acts 8:37, 16:31).

Give confession to your faith in God (Hebrews 11).

Willingness to keep learning about Jesus and to obey His Teaching (Acts 2:41-42).

Significance of Baptism

When you become a follower of Christ you become a new person in Jesus.  The old has gone and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Water Baptism signifies that the old part of you (what you were like before Jesus came into your life) has died, and that you now are living as a new person and part of a new humanity.  Jesus has cleansed you and made you pure.

Sometimes you will still want to do things that are not pleasing to God, and you will be tempted - but with Jesus in your life, He will help you change your desires and help you say no to those things.
