Out of the Box

It's easy to find ourselves in a rut and comfortable - stuck to life in the box. Once in the box we are confined to only what we have in the box. While it may appear to provide security and comfort, it is void of the adventurous life that God has purposed for us. Outside the box is where life happens - it is where the average is swallowed up by the extraordinary. Why live for the ordinary when you can live an extraordinary life?

This page is designed as a tool to help us get out of the box. Below you will hear stories of people just like you who are getting out of the box. May their stories inspire and encourage you. You will also find practical ideas that hopefully will trigger something inside of you to act. We have also provided a story form for you to give expression to your experiences. If you get out of the box - we want to hear about it. Fill out the form so that we can celebrate together.

I had the perfect opportunity to give our book to the student that I spoke about in my e-mail today. He is twenty-something, having personal problems and generally a depressed glass half-empty type of person. I needed to talk to him about a certification exam, so he came to my office and we had a chat. I encouraged him to take the exam by the end of the quarter, and he gave me reason after reason why he didn’t think he was ready and why this and that couldn’t be done. For every excuse he made, I had a plan and basically blew his “excuses” out of the water. Then he looked at me and asked (here is the cool opportunity God gave me)….”How do you do it?” I asked “how do I do what?” He replied “how do you stay so positive in life?” Well, of course there was my opening, and ended up giving him the book and briefly explaining my source of encouragement.

Anyhow isn’t it so cool that… #1 God placed this student on my mind last week, and I prayed for him #2 Pastor, you prayed for me today #3 I actually brought the book into school today #4 He was in class and came to see me #5 The conversation naturally went that direction #6 He literally asked me “how do I do it?” #7 Praise God!!!

Getting out of the box, Laura.
